Our Mission

Operation Amani (Swahili word for Peace) provides a place of hope, healing, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated populations. We aim to mitigate the impact of incarceration on children, family members, and the post-release family reunification process, to prevent future incarceration and criminal activity. Our focus is to remove the barriers and provide the necessary services for returning citizens to gain a fresh start and redirect their lives to become healthy, contributing members of society.

March Against Violence

WXCN Power (Phase 1)

WXCN Power incorporates men and women who have been incarcerated in its daily operations. The Vision for WXCN Power is to train returning citizens with the communication, sales and business skills to empower them to grow in their purpose. This platform enriches and encourages the second chance community, and the community at large, to get involved with effecting change in issues such as; mass incarceration, community violence, institutionalization, and issues of oppression. Furthermore, creating opportunities to learn and increase knowledge in areas such as; employment, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and more.

Through various arts, WXCN Power will create an atmosphere conducive to effect this change.

Screen Printing and Graphic Design (Phase 2)

Through our social entrepreneurship programs, the Operation Amani Screen Printing Company will teach returning citizens how to print t-shirts, hats, and many other customized items. This skilled training will also include business management, inventory management, and more.

Operation Amani Food Truck and Catering (Phase 3)

This program will take graduates of the culinary training class and give them real-life customer service experience. They will work with some of Pittsburgh’s most respected chefs. Some of these chefs include; (Chef Keith Butler, Chef Claude Piere.) After successful completion of this program, Operation Amani will assist these individuals with finding employment through one of our partnerships with local restaurants.

Construction

Operation Amani will employ our clients as Demolition Specialists. This program will be in partnership with some of the top construction programs in the City of Pittsburgh (Current businesses and organizations are undisclosed, at this time.)
